The Norwood School

Letters home to parents

Good evening Year 9 Parents and Carers,

I am delighted to let you know that we have now launched our Pathways Spring 2023 Programme with Year 9.

I spoke in assembly yesterday to the children and their tutors, subject leaders and teachers will be starting to work with them on various aspects of Careers/Pathways information over the course of the next few weeks.

We will be uploading information that will be helpful to you on the website - here - as we go though the programme.
You can see key dates and when students will need to have made their decisions by.

Initially, the students will be looking through the Pathways Booklet in tutor time this week and will be learning about where they will be able to find out useful information to help them make informed decisions, as well as preparing for all the exciting visitors, workshops, assemblies that we have planned. Only yesterday, we welcomed two young apprentices who are part of the amazing Civil Service Apprenticeship Programme, who spoke to the students in their French and Spanish lessons about the benefit of having a language, with all the wonderful opportunities that being a great linguist has already offered them.

I have attached a short collection of really helpful websites that you will hopefully find useful when supporting your child through this process.
I would like to highlight the two Parent Webinars being offered by INvestin - link here, that are on the suggested activities, resources and events. You will need to be quick to book up the 'Communicating with Confidence' webinar if you are interested, it is on Feb 1st.

Thank you for taking the time to read this email and the suggested resources.
It is genuinely an exciting time for the students and I am really looking forward to working with you all over the next few months, supporting the students to make the right choices, for the very best chances of a successful transition into Key Stage 4.

With kindest regards,

Ms Nicholas
Senior Deputy Head Teacher
