Careers

Norwood School are very proud to have been awarded the Quality in Careers Standard Stage 3. This is recognition that we provide a high standard of careers education, information, advice and guidance provision.

Joanne Smith, from CSW commented – ‘You have clearly achieved so much recently and, not only is it a pleasure to see your efforts rewarded with successful completion of Stage 3, but also to know that external assessors leave with such a positive impression of the school in its entirety.’

Tina Beard, our assessor, said, ‘I admire how much you and the entire team do and manage to squeeze into each and every week! I was very impressed by all I saw and heard at The Norwood School.’

Have you heard of Lambeth Made?

‘Lambeth Made’ is a programme which is working to make Lambeth one of the best places in the world for children and young people to grow up.

Lambeth Made

WeRise

At WeRise our mission is to empower young people to create successful futures. But we can't do this on our own. As a community business we want to galvanise the energy of businesses, schools and families to create something that will last.

So far we have engaged 500 young people in high impact work experience, intensive school based programmes and inspirational careers networking events. We have worked with incredible businesses and employers, wonderful schools, inspiring volunteers and fantastic young people.

But there is so much more to do.

9,000 Lambeth teenagers live in families who are struggling to put food on the table and who lack social connections to professional work.

We are fortunate to have Ms Boyle, our Independent Careers Adviser, in school each week. Students are issued with an appointment card on the day of their scheduled meeting to excuse them from class.

In addition to group workshops, assemblies and small group sessions, all students in Years 10, 11 and the Sixth Form will receive a one-to-one interview at some point during the year. If you would like to see Ms Boyle again for a follow-up meeting, or are seeking further advice, please arrange an appointment through your Head of Year or Ms Patel.

If parents wish to speak with Ms Boyle alongside their child, please ensure you arrange to meet her at Parents’ Evening.
