Welcome to 'Friends of The Norwood School', our PTA.

The PTA team run an extensive community on WhatsApp – year groups, SEN and PTA Event Staffing groups. Other groups like individual classes and bursary groups are run by parents. To reduce spam/bot activity, please either ask other parents to add you to the relevant group or email us at the PTA email.

 

Annual Events and fundraising opportunities:

• MacMillan Cancer Coffee morning – the PTA help run cake stalls to support the school on the Open Evening and raise money for MacMillan charities – September/October
• FOTNS bars at School Events – The bar teams provide much needed refreshments for school events including termly Music Showcase evenings, The Norwood Factor, So you Think You Can Dance? Battle of the Bands and the PAPA’s. Anyone can help out with these, so look out for notifications on facebook and WhatsApp groups and join the PTA Bar WhatsApp group if you can help for a couple of hours. 
• The PTA Annual Comedy night in January each year sees one of the most popular school events with top name talents performing in The Nest, the school theatre - January
• We run two annual runs of Estate Agent boards with Northwood Estate Agents, one in December/January and one in April/May. If you are able to have a board outside your house, please email us at friendsofthenorwoodschool@gmail.com
• Easyfundraising.org raises money at no cost to you on any online shopping you do from ordering a takeaway, to booking travel, your food shop and so on. Please sign up here: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/friendsofthenorwoodschoolcrowndale/ Family, friends and carers can also sign up.
• Second-hand uniform – we are trialling a new system for uniform this term. Details coming soon.

 

Projects

Every September we send forms to all staff requesting details of what they require for teaching and learning. These are reviewed by the PTA Committee and once funds are raised, we allocate accordingly and provide these directly to the school departments. Funds have benefitted every area of the school in Sports, Arts, Science, Humanities and clubs. We also make donations annually to the Year 11 and Year 13 Proms and school celebration days. In the last school year we have donated approximately £25,000 into the school.

 

Joining In

Of course, whilst it always helps, it is not always money that is needed. Sometimes it might be donating school uniform or sports kits. It might be that you have a pasta maker gathering dust at the back of your cupboard that could be used by the food tech dept, or garden tools or plant seedlings that can be used by the garden club at the school. Your skills as a DIYer/builder/carpenter might be useful on a community day or it may be an extra pair of hands to run a bar at one of the amazing school theatre events or bake a cake. You can also just turn up and say hi to support us! 

We always have lots of ideas for things we could be doing to raise money at the school or for school events, we just need help to make them happen.
